Spring BYB Concludes Under Perfect Weather!

Just over 300 racers enjoyed crisp spring temperatures and sunny skies yesterday at the final race of the Spring Backyard Burn Trail Running Series.  Some blistering times were posted on this twisty, fun, and ‘mostly flat’ course.  It was a wonderful day of trail running action.

BYB Fun at Fountainhead!

Tons of fun was had at Fountainhead yesterday during the third race of the Spring Backyard Burn Trail Running Series.  Athletes were treated to warm temperatures and slick conditions as they negotiated a technical course littered with twisty single-track, steep hills, and wet stream crossings.

Unseasonably Warm Weather Ushers In The 2009 EX2 Season!

Mother Nature provided wonderfully warm weather yesterday as we ushered in the 2009 EX2 season at Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, VA. Spirits were high as racers tested themselves on the newly designed 5 and 10 mile trail running courses that included fun fire roads, twisty singletrack, and challenging hills. Thanks to all the racers, volunteers, and sponsors for making the first race of the Spring Backyard Burn Trail Running Series a smashing success!

Snow and Cold Temps Didn’t Stop the Burn!

A dusting of snow and temps in the upper 20s increased the adventure factor of the Backyard Burn Finale held yesterday at gorgeous Prince William Forest Park. Hundreds of athletes took on the challenge and braved the elements, running a course of wide fire roads, streamside single-track, and almost no pavement. It was a fun-filled day and a fitting end to the EX2 race season!

Racers battled it out yesterday at Fountainhead as they competed in the third race of the Fall Backyard Burn Trail Running Series.  Just over 300 athletes faced cold temperatures and high winds as they negotiated a challenging and technical course littered with twisty single-track, steep hills, and fun stream crossings.

Races Passed the Challenge at Hemlock!

Cool temperatures and changing Fall colors greeted over 300 competitors in yesterday’s Backyard Burn trail running race at Hemlock Overlook in Clifton, VA.  The beautiful course at Hemlock is hilly and challenging, consisting mostly of rock and root strewn hiking trails (including the Bull Run Occoquan Trail), old dirt roads, and open fields.  Congratulations to all the athletes for tacking this very technical and demanding course and thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors, and the park authority for helping to make it all happen.  It was a great day of trail running action!

Athletes Rose to the Challenge at VentureQuest!

Blue skies and perfect temperatures in the mid 70s treated all who participated in the ninth annual VentureQuest Adventure Race held yesterday at Fountainhead Regional Park in Fairfax Station, VA. Over 200 athletes biked, trekked, paddled, and portaged their way through this demanding 5-9 hour competition. Congratulations to all who rose to the challenge and attempted such a tough physical task!
